Lilibet's Story
Hi, my name is Lilibet Ruth!
When my mommy was 39 weeks pregnant with me, her water broke! My daddy rushed her to the hospital. They were both so excited to meet me. They had been praying for me since before they even knew I existed!
When my mommy and daddy finally made it to the hospital, they found out that I no longer had a heartbeat. I would be born sleeping.
They were heartbroken and so scared, but my daddy was so brave! He held mommy's hand and encouraged her as she delivered me into the arms of angels.
My mom and dad were so confused. They did everything right.
Mommy's doctor told us an amniotic band had formed and attached itself to where my umbilical cord was attached to the placenta. When my mommy's water broke, the amniotic band ripped my cord away from the placenta, cutting off my life source.
This is the reality for 21,000 babies in the United States each year. Every single year 1 in 175 births will result in stillbirth, just like mine.
My mommy had to leave the hospital with empty arms that were aching to hold me.
My grandma Honey decided to make my mommy a bunny weighing my exact birth weight to comfort her and snuggle when she is missing me.
I have the coolest, nicest grandma in the world! She's been making weighted bears for all my mommy's friends that also had to leave the hospital without their babies. There's only one problem... they're pretty expensive!
We need your help to continue being able to provide weighted bears to mothers dealing with empty arms syndrome as a result of stillbirth.
